Winter Hike: Val Fex
Summer or winter, this valley is truly picturesque. In winter it is a wide snowy corridor furrowed by a river, peaceful and silent.
From the small village of Segl-Maria, there is a short flat section, and then an uphill section that leads through a quiet forest to the valley, at about 1900 meters.
You go down and up gently, walking between large farms, a few huts, on either side of the river, until the two roads converge at a small alpaca farm. You can get there, and enjoy a mulled wine in front of the fire in the open air, or continue again, this time with a little more effort, to the farm at the end of the valley.
The walk is long, but gentle and available for anyone with good winter boots. Go there to find some peace or to enjoy some hearty food in one of the huts along the way. Cross-country skiers also find their quiet paradise here.
