Delicious lebanese food and a bohemian mood: Le Mezzerie de Moudi
In the heart of Sihlfeld and far from the most popular streets of Zurich. It overlooks a not so popular road, except for the passengers of bus 72, the pupils of the secondary school in front of it, and, during the summer evenings, the locals who crowd the nearby Idaplatz for a beer with friends.
Despite its timid location, Le Mezzerie is a restaurant full of atmosphere: even just passing distractedly in front of the building, one can not help but notice through the large windows, the deep aquamarine color of the room, the funny mirrors spreaded on the walls, and the bohemian atmosphere made of vintage and Thonet style wooden chairs ,each different from the other, dishes with eclectic decorations or refined roses, oriental carpets and stuccoes on the ceilings.
The restaurant, not too big, is beautiful as excellent is the food. Lebanese cuisine made of mezze, a kind of Middle Eastern tapas to share with fellow diners, like hummus of all kinds, falafel, couscous, spicy vegetables, fried eggplant with yogurt. The menu is completed by meat dishes and special salads. My advice is not to miss the tabouleh, in a full-of-parsley version, with a little quinoa instead of the classic couscous or bulgur, and with a fresh lemon dressing. All seasoned with a few pomegranate grains that gives even more color to the table laid with dishes decorated with the classic blue motifs of the south-eastern Mediterranean.
The prices are definitely proportionate, and a dinner for two is around 60 Chf. Mezze come at prices around 8-10 Chf.
