Hi.

Welcome to my blog! I am Lucia, and I would like to share my passion for the World with you.

The kite surf paradise

The kite surf paradise

The beautiful island of Rhodes offers quiet beaches, large expanses of sand colonised by families on holiday, small isolated or crowded bays. But if you go as far as the southern end of the island, you will reach a water sports paradise.

Prasonissi is a vast beach, where dozens of meters separate the beach from the edge of the town, and where two large bays lashed by strong winds have become the playground for windsurfers and kite surfers.

The name Prasonissi is actually that of the rocky spur surrounded by the sea, and connected to the mainland by an isthmus that separates the two bays, not always emerging. The most eastern bay is quieter, if you can say so, and furrowed by dozens of wind-surfers throughout its length. Here the winds are slightly calmer, and even beginners of kite surfing mingle in this tangle of ropes and sails that populate the sea. The bay to the west, however, is crossed by larger waves and stronger winds, and more athletic sportsmen here make evolutions on their kite surfboards.

Many tourists come to this beach, probably with the intention of enjoying the sun and the sea, and end up standing and observing the fascinating sportsmen and women. The wind is very strong and constantly raises sand, which makes this beach totally unsuitable for sunbathing lovers. And the sea is so dense with surfing, that it is almost impossible to dive for a quiet swim.

So if you're going down here, why not try taking up your favourite type of surfing and taking lessons.

We took a 3-day course, and it was an exceptionally enjoyable experience.
